De Beers Investments is a South African diamond mining, holding and financial company. De Beers and its associated companies play a pivotal role in the world diamond industry.
The company operates several South African diamond mines owned or leased by De Beers. De Beers manages 18 mines in four countries and is responsible, with its partners De Beers Marine, Namdeb in Namibia and Debswana in Botswana, for more than 50% of world gem diamond production.
De Beers has started “branding” its diamonds.
De Beers has established a presence in the Canadian production scene through the acquistion of Winspear Resources, a junior who is developing a major deposit at Snap Lake in Nunavut, Canada.
