Guinea African Energy 2-3/99 The Garafiri hydroelectric facility on the Konkoure river, featuring a 75 MW power plant intended to meet the power demand of the Conakry region, is expected to begin operating in the second half of 1999. This project has been under construction since 1996. The Garafiri project includes a dam reservoir of two billion m3 and a spillway which will be able to evacuate 2000 m3 per second. On the west bank a water intake tower will supply water to the 75 MW plant.
