Personal Information
As a chemistry lecturer Dr Anton Rupert started making cigarettes in his garage. In 1952, he purchased Rembrandt which grew to become a major South African conglomerate.
Dr Rupert has paid a great deal of attention to environmental conservation and his company has been prominent in funding fine arts. He has also played an important role in the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC). Dr Rupert’s personal interests include music, drama and historical buildings.
